Senior Housing is offered to persons 55 years of age or over, and persons with physical disabilities who are able to live independently. Preference is given to persons with lower incomes and persons who are living at risk.
Tenants living in Senior housing pay a monthly rent based on a percentage up to 29% of their total gross household income as definded in the Graduated Rent Scale. Incomes are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure the rental rate is fair. Tenants may request a downwards adjustments in the rent charged prior to the annual review if their income is reduced during the course of the year. The Housing Authority reviews these requests on an individual basis.
Tenants have the option to have the Saskatchewan Assisted Living Service (SALS) provided to them. Optional additional SALS services are available at selected locations for a fee:
- Meals
- Housekeeping / laurdry
- Secur-Tek (PRS) Personal Response System
Each Senior complex has a Tenant Association that provides opportunites and encouragement for the wellbeing of tenants in a positive and healthy environment.
How to Apply:
- Obtain and complete an application form
- Submit your income information: current pension(s) amounts and copy of your most recent income tax return (for each adults in the household).
- Applicants, will be contacted to set-up an office interview to discuss housing needs.
- Tenant selection, for subsidized senior housing, is based on need and suitability. Vacancy rates may also effect the waiting period.
